High-End Brand Film Production for SIONYX
For a night vision technology brand built on precision engineering, the marketing footage has to be just as precise. Here is how The Courtside Group delivered a cinematic, one-minute brand film for SIONYX's Nightwave marine night vision camera — shot over three demanding days on the water in Northwest Florida.
The Challenge
SIONYX builds digital night vision cameras designed to perform where ordinary footage can't — in the dark, on the water, in the field. Nightwave, the company's marine night vision system, needed a brand film that didn't just describe that capability but proved it on screen: real footage of a boat running from golden-hour daylight into true darkness, without the transition ever feeling like a cut corner.
That meant the production itself had to chase the same conditions the product is built for — early call times to catch first light, full days on the water, and after-dark sessions to capture the low-light performance Nightwave is known for — all within a compressed three-day shoot. Between coordinating talent on a moving boat, adapting to shifting coastal light and weather, and capturing the range of tight product detail, on-screen feature callouts, and wide environmental shots a 60-second film demands, SIONYX needed a partner who could plan meticulously, move fast on set, and still deliver a premium, cinematic result.
"A shoot like this has a lot of ways to go wrong — early mornings, late nights, a boat, changing light, a schedule with zero slack. We didn't have to manage any of it. Courtside came in with a plan for every scenario and executed, even when conditions on the water changed by the hour."
— Kyleigh Page, SIONYX
The Approach
The Courtside Group built the SIONYX brand film around three core priorities:
- Shooting for the Product's Strengths: Structuring the three-day schedule around dawn, dusk, and after-dark windows on the water to authentically capture Nightwave's low-light performance — on top of the daylight and lifestyle footage needed to round out the story, so the day-to-night transition on screen was real, not reconstructed.
- Directing Talent on a Moving Set: Working with talent aboard several boats across changing locations and conditions, keeping performances natural and on-brand even as the crew moved quickly from setup to setup on the water.
- Precision in Every Frame, Fast Turnaround: Capturing a wide range of complex shots — tight product detail work, on-screen feature callouts, and sweeping environmental footage — then condensing three full days of footage into a polished 60-second film with narration and motion graphics dialed in to match SIONYX's brand voice exactly.
"Courtside delivered exactly what we pictured when we started this project. The entire team was professional and easy to work with, and the final product really elevates the SIONYX brand."
— The SIONYX Team
The Impact
SIONYX now has a signature brand film for Nightwave that captures the product exactly as intended — precise, cinematic, and true to a brand built around performance in the most difficult conditions to shoot. By managing a demanding multi-day, on-water production with full professionalism and zero compromise on quality, The Courtside Group reinforced its role as a production partner SIONYX can hand a high-stakes shoot to and trust completely.
